Walt Disney has joined the Virtual Reality world as well. For those of us who work in the field, we knew that they were working on something. Now we get to see what it is, and it is great. I mean how could DALI + VR not = GREAT!
As part of the exhibit "Disney and Dali: Architects of the Imagination" show at The Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida, Disney hired the agency Goodby Silverstein & Partners and created the surrealist dream journey into Dali's paintings and mind.
The full VR experience is offered to be experienced with Oculus Rift headsets at the museum. For those of us who cannot make it to the exhibit the museum has posted a sample clip on the YouTube 360 platform viewable on your smartphone. The experience takes you into his 1935 painting"Archeological Reminiscence of Millet's 'Angelus'" flies you past other iconic images of his masterpieces.
Dali and Disney collaborated on a short back in the artist life time in 1940s called Destino. Just like the VR short, this too showcases how natural a collaboration between the two identities feels.
